Persian food night 2004
Nigerian food night 2002

The CCSS international food nights started in 1996 with a Chinese food evening hosted at the Glebe road student campus (now sadly no longer with us). The idea was to give the students a chance to share their national dishes, costumes and music as well as raise money for charity. Since '96 the food night has been a regular on the CCSS social programme. Food nights hosted have been from Thailand, China, Nigeria, Germany, Italy, France, India, Russia, England (once!) + most recently a Persian food evening was held at the Stables.

The Persian food night (held on the Iranian Nou Rooz/New Year) was a great success with our hosts providing a fascinating talk about Iran and its many tradtions. The food and music finished off a perfect night at the Stables which was hosted kindly by Amir, Saeed, Amir(2) and Ali.

What is now a Major annual CCSS event the Nigerian food night always proves to be the highlight of the winter term social programme. From the moment the students take charge of the kitchens the place becomes alive with the sounds (arguments!) and smells (seriously spicy)of west African culture. Once all the Nigerian students arrive dressed in their traditional costume and the music starts to kick in, it's a guaranteed lively and exciting night out! Photos of previous Nigerian food nights are included in the link to the right of this page.

The food nights are now a essential part of life at CCSS and will continue long into the future!
