Scholarships

September 2012 Entrance

Background
Our Scholarship Awards offer the opportunity of an excellent education at one of the UK’s leading independent sixth-form colleges to high achieving pupils.

We offer a unique and individual approach to learning, building a relationship of mutual respect between students and staff and developing self-confidence within each student.

Key features of our provision include a commitment to quality pastoral care, small class sizes (averaging five students) and one-to-one individual sessions for every student in all subjects each week. Students also benefit from weekly private tutorials with a tutor who guides their careers and university choices.

Application Requirements
Our scholarships are aimed at academically high achieving pupils and are worth 15% of the College tuition fees. Applications for Scholarships are invited from students expected to gain 5 A*s at GCSE for entry into the Lower Sixth to study A-Levels.

Scholars are expected to contribute to the College community and will be asked to be involved in extra-curricular activities.

Where Scholarship applicants would require further funding to meet the fees, they are asked to complete our means-testing Bursary Form at the time of application for the Scholarship Award. Students awarded a Scholarship and who qualify for a Bursary may be offered up to 100% of the tuition and boarding fees (where boarding is required).

Application Process
Applications for Scholarship awards should be made by 17th February 2012. The application process is as follows:

1.    The applicant must submit the following documentation to the Admissions Office by 17th February 2012:

•    A CCSS Scholarship Application Form. Click here to download the form.
•    The candidate’s most recent school reports (for the last academic year)
•    Letter of application written by the student, describing in no less than 500 words your interests, achievements and hopes for the future.
•    Where appropriate, the means-testing Bursary Form and accompanying documents for those applicants who would need additional help with the tuition fees. (Please note that Bursaries are strictly means-tested, and proof of information provided on this form will be required.)

2.    Candidate students meeting the selection criteria will be invited with their parents to visit CCSS and meet the staff - the student will sit a test and will then be interviewed (with parents present). If called for interview, a reference from the candidate’s current school will be requested. Candidates should allow two hours for their visit.

3.    All candidates will be informed of the decision of the Awards panel by the 16th March 2012.
