Thai Minister for Education in Europe visits CCSS Oct. 9, 2009
Mr Devakula, the Thai Minister for Education in Europe, visited Cambridge Centre for Sixth-form Studies (CCSS) to see the presentation of special academic awards to five students from Thailand.
Five Thai students were amongst six students from the College selected to receive academic awards introduced to honour a former Principal and joint founder of the school, Paul Redhead. The awards mark exceptional achievement and commitment in the academic and wider life of the college.
After the ceremony Mr Devakula said: “We choose CCSS for our high-flying scholars as it has such an excellent reputation. The students’ achievement in having been awarded Thai government scholarships is enhanced by all that they achieved at CCSS.”
Mr Stuart Nicholson, CCSS Principal added: “Although we are a local college and about a half of our students are British, we are also very multicultural, and we have students from 35 countries around the world. Thai scholars are always a significant part of a small group of outstanding students recognised by this annual award. They are remarkable young people and it is a great honour to be chosen by the Thai government as a place for their education.”
