New CCSS building Dec. 11, 2009
CCSS has appointed Cocksedge Building Contractors to refurbish the new CCSS building on Lensfield Road. The work on site commenced in late November and is planned to finish in July 2010.
Cocksedge Building Contractors are also known for their work on the project to revamp and make better use of the ground floor of the Guildhall, a listed building in the centre of Cambridge, which is owned and managed by Cambridge City Council.
The new CCSS premises, which have been acquired from the University of Cambridge on a 150-year lease, are a 4-storey Georgian building and fine example of 19th century architecture.

The building has been unoccupied for over six years and requires considerable restoration work. It is a Grade II listed building (i.e. particularly important building of more than special interest), and CCSS is committed to carrying out all refurbishment work in a responsible and sensible way to make minimal changes to the structure of the building, and to ensure that it complements the surrounding area when finished.
The refurbishment project includes the creation of new Drama centre and state of the art classrooms. The entire first floor will be taken by student resource facilities: a large library, study rooms, careers library and student relaxation area.
