Two-year A-levels
A-level courses – pathway to university
‘Advanced Levels’ are UK public university entrance examinations and are recognised worldwide. A-levels give you the in-depth preparation you need to excel on the most demanding and competitive degree courses.
We offer two-year and one-year A-level courses. Most of our students start in September, although we can accept students later in the year if they have the right academic experience.
Helping you achieve more
Our teachers have on average over 15 years of experience at this level. This, combined with our small class sizes and individual lessons in every subject, means that our students will have the best possible preparation for their examinations.
One-to-one private tutorials are an important and unique part of all A-level courses in addition to group lessons. These vary between 15 and 30 minutes each depending on the year and subject.
Examination practice
The work of all students is very regularly assessed and there are many opportunities to develop skills for external examinations. All teachers recognise that examination technique needs to be taught and practised. We do not encourage meaningless tests that just reinforce shallow learning, but assessment that informs teaching and promotes deep learning and understanding of the main concepts in each subject.
Preparation for university
In addition to their academic studies, first-year students take part in the Enrichment Programme which includes thinking and planning skills, additional careers education, information technology and a range of activities designed to support learning.
Our full programme of support in preparing university applications includes individual weekly tutorials, practice interviews, visits to universities and additional careers guidance such as our annual careers convention where students can meet practitioners from a variety of fields.
More than 30 subjects
CCSS offers over 30 different A-level subjects. Usually, students study three or four subjects on the A-level course.
