Business Studies
Business Studies is a course that offers sound business knowledge which can be considered a prerequisite for students wishing to continue to Advanced Level studies. It looks at the fascinating social, political and economic contexts of business in general.
Course structure
Students will look at the varying aspects of organisations involving an investigation of how enterprise adds value by organising the production of goods and services. Students will have the opportunity to develop their skills of rationale, numeracy, language and debate and be encouraged to work on projects in groups. Pathways to read and digest information will be demonstrated and there will be a focus on the importance of effective communication. Students will be encouraged to extract information from a variety of resources.

Assessment details
Written paper 1 (37.5%) – 1hr 15m
Written paper 2 (25%) – 1hr
Written paper 3 (37.5%) – 1hr 15m
After the GCSE course
GCSE Business Studies has a natural lead on to Advanced Level Business Studies but will also form extremely useful background for Advanced Level studies in Economics, Accounting and the Social and Political Sciences, as well as leading to a good understanding of how the business world relates to society.
