Preparation for University

CCSS offers a complete programme of preparation for university applications.

All students meet weekly with their tutor, who provides guidance in making a successful university application. All CCSS tutors have full training in the UCAS (UK) university applications process, and CCSS also has in-house expertise with applications to many overseas countries, such as in Europe and North America. Whether on a one-year or two-year programme, students are fully supported and guided in their university choices.

Preparation for University begins in the Lower Sixth when all students receive a detailed Coursefinder Report suggesting both areas of study and specific university courses that will suit their strengths and aptitude. The College also arranges presentations by universities at CCSS on how to choose where to go and what to study, student finance and writing personal statements.  Other trips and visits are organised to Higher Education Fairs for the UK, USA and International Universities and to University Open Days. Students are encouraged to find their own work experience placements, but work shadowing can sometimes be arranged via our extensive network of contacts, further strengthening any university application.

Specialist support is given to students who wish to prepare for Oxford and Cambridge University applications, medical schools and art colleges, including practice in interviews.  CCSS regularly prepares students for specialist entrance examinations in areas such as law, dentistry and medicine (LNAT, UKCAT and BMAT).
