At CCSS we create a genuine home-from-home for all our students. A hugely welcoming, inspirational and sociable place to be. The College and the city provide a vast number of ways to enjoy yourself, keep busy and make friends.
Within College, the atmosphere is informal but mature and studious. The wide range of subjects offered mean that our scientists mingle with artists, our legal minds chat over coffee with their colleagues taking humanities courses. College is vibrant, sociable and warm. Working hard is a part of every day, making time to do that little bit of extra study .. but so too is making time to build friendships and time to develop as an individual.
At CCSS, we believe that personal growth and self-motivation should be valued as highly as academic achievement, and that they contribute to academic excellence too. We know that the many activities our students enjoy in addition to their study, teach them valuable lessons in life, such as the importance of perseverance, hard work, developing their competitive spirit. This is why we make sure there is an extensive range of sports and creative and cultural activities on offer throughout the college year.
Stepping out of the College buildings, our students find themselves in the centre of one of the most renowned student cities in Europe. Our day and residential students all value our location, a stimulating but safe city where there is always an opportunity to extend learning. The University of Cambridge and its colleges and Anglia Ruskin University’s teaching spaces and residences are all close to the CCSS campus and the combined student community have a clear influence on the locality. Our students enjoy studying in such a prestigious and well-served student environment. CCSS has a well-developed network of associations and affiliations with Cambridge academic, sporting and cultural organisations and the opportunities and invitations extended to our students as a result of this are priceless.
The thriving local economy and the established educational environment have resulted in Cambridge not only bursting with academic opportunities but also boasting excellent theatre, cinema, concerts, exhibitions, shops, restaurants, cafés and sports facilities. It really couldn’t be a better place to live and study!
Whilst students at CCSS come from all over the globe, many also come from very close by. From Cambridgeshire, and the six counties that border it, from London and from the North. The unique appeal of our student city and of course of the CCSS style and ethos are widely recognised as something rather special.
